Oh to be the teenage shredder from New York with the swimsuit model physique. But Quincy Davis’ real bikini kill is her Instagram profile, almost at 100k without the pro tour or a big movie to help push it skyward. When Quince is not hawking round the world with Veeco team mate Coco Ho or doing time with pro surf pals Kelia Moniz and Bruna Schmitz, she’s back home as NY’s second-ever pro surfer (Bal Stack being NYC’s first real international export). What a life! Quince can be haunting the lineups of Montauk in the morning and be doing time on the streets of Soho by nightfall (Yeah, we know, quite a drive, but is poss!). And, let’s be honest, a pretty NYC surfer is just a marketing manager’s dream.

If you were a non-surfer and were sold the surfing dream through mainstream surfing ads, you’d believe that all pro surfer gals drove Kombis, rode resin-tint boards and only surfed in a morning or afternoon glow. But, in the case of K Moniz, world champ longboarder, this is how life appears through social media. She’s the only one in our top 10 who steers clear of high-performance equipment. She’s the one who carries that Hawaiian last name Moniz, the one with four brothers and a rad former-pro dad (Tony), owns an easy shaka and an even easier style. Kelia also has Ash Benson following her, the actress and model you thrilled to in Spring Breakers.

She is a party girl. She’s not a party girl. She is a heat grinder. She’s a free spirit. She’s the Sydney world tour surfer with a whiteboard full o hedonism ahead. Loz’s social program is just that: F.U.N with a coffee chaser.Having a party around a world tour event? Make sure you get Laura and her hand of pals to get things started. Ask anyone in a marketing department of a sponsor who Sal represents and they’ll tell you that there is no one in the world better to work with. She’s always happy and always motivated. Check her feed and this is a girl who enjoys being on the move: Social events, surfing, training, media and generally getting busy. You’ll also see she’s a sports fanatic. But what you won’t see is her boyfriend, St George Illawarra footballer Trent Merrin, clogging up the feed. you’ve heard eighteen or thirty times by now, Steph Gilmore’s appeal is the way she approaches a wave. All that femininity across an open face. Unforced. Silky. Don’t believe us. After each event on the newly combined tour (the women and men at the same events), we are inundated with pro surfer bros telling us how Steph makes ‘em nervous. Simple sentence structure and basic conversation goes out the window for millionaire pro surfers who are overwhelmed by Ms Gilmore. She’s natural, uncontrived and dances that line between sexy and sophisticated ever so effortlessly. The same way Steph will never surf a heat in a bikini (opting for small trunks), her page looks as if it’s an afterthought and not a priority: The bulk of her posts surround her surfing ability rather than the way she looks with limited lycra.

Coco Malia Camille Hapaikekoa Ho was born into a family of surf royalty. Hawaiian surf royalty. Which means she has more tough uncles than any other surfer in history (she may be challenged later by Axel Irons). Coco slays us with her warm spirit and brilliant manners. Coco is the girl who can get away with dropping in. When ‘Cokes’ uploaded a Beyonce shout-out, Kelly Slater swung into the comments: “Nah. You’re better than Beyonce. She talks health to the kids but then pimps Pepsi to the world. And she don’t shred…” Oh, let’s not forget about her BF, the pro snowboarder Mark McNorris, who features heavily throughout her feed. He hasn’t scared off her male fans: her male-to-female ratio sits almost at parity.

If you’re familiar with Stab, you’ll know the Coffey sisters, Ellie-Jean and Holly steaming through our Instagram feed. They’re the Gold Coast gals fond of bikinis with the blonde hair and honey-coloured skin. Ellie-Jean is the elder sister and she has the advantage of first mover advantage on Instagram. She joined early and was already steaming with what’s speculated to be a few of the more cheeky ways to get a following. You’ll note her big followers actually follow more people than are followed. But, we’re talking in the millions. This is #likeforalike on a computer-generated scale. Whatevs, it’s not like EJC needs any help now. Big followers are self-perpetuating and she’ll continue to climb fast. Ellie was also recently was named by Esquire magazine favourite women of Instagram. “Summer never has to end when you follow Ellie-Jean,” Esquire said. “When not competing, she’s still at the beach, often with her sister or fellow surf champs, taking selfies in her impressive array of bikinis. So join the other 130,000 followers and take a mini-holiday with Ellie-Jean.” Dwight Howard of the Houston Rockets did, the biggest name of her fan base.

The gal with the one arm, swallowed by a shark. Thank God for divine intervention! What a story! Paddling and taking off on waves at Pipe, at Padang Padang, at Cloudbreak with just one arm defies reason. Beth is newly married, is a devout Christian and has come dangerously close to qualifying for the world tour. Also, and we don’t joke here, you need to see Bethany’s frontside air. Let’s be honest, you probably didn’t know who Anastasia Ashley was until Supergirl Pro contest that took place August 2-4, 2013 at Oceanside Pier. And it probably wasn’t the result you remember of this event. What should trigger your memory is her youtube bubble butt clip from that contest. The clip that’s had more than six million views. Even if Miss Ashley is a youtube partner, she’d end up with $20k (you get $3,300 per 1,000,000 plays). But Miss Ashley was chasing more than a youtube payout. It arrived this year when she appeared in Sports Illustrated. In the social world, the knock-on effect of big followers takes your following to the stratosphere. Miss Ashley can thank Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant, actor Kevin Hart and musician Jason Mraz for that.

Alana Blanchard’s life appears as if it’s lead role in the film Blue Crush. The Brazilian bikini, the fluoro blue water, the boats, the palm trees and the cute pro surfer boyfriend. This is a girl who won the Surfer Poll awards in Hawaii late last year, voted by readers as the best surfer in the world. Alana is not the best female surfer in the world and even she looked a little awkward winning it. But what an ass! And let’s not forget Alana is a world tour surfer. This year hasn’t been great for her so far but at the start of 2013 she surprised everyone with 17+ heat totals in the Roxy Pro at Snapper Rocks. Alana’s social game used to be devoid of males but then along came boyfriend Jack Freestone. Now we are flooded with hits of the loved-up couple and their perfect life. But before you berate the world tour surfer of being followed by eight million plus creepy guys across the world, let’s not forget 41% of her following are female, including Bar Refaeli. Even Skrillex!
